Ink Smooshed Trees
Hello and welcome to my first blog post for Pawsome Stamps! I'm so excited to share my ideas with you!
If
you follow me on Instagram @katedeignancards, you know I'm not really a
fan of coloring. I mean, I'll do it, but I'll try every technique NOT
to color. I usually like to find any and all techniques for adding lots
of color, before reverting to actual coloring. And I'm always up for
making a mess!
Ever hear of ink smooshing? All you need is ink, water and a slick surface.
Supplies:
Waterproof Ink (I used Memento Tuxedo Black)
Heavyweight White Cardstock (like Neenah Classic Crest)
Distress Oxide Inks (in leaf colors)
Water mister
Camp Fire and Captivating Cactus Sequin Mixes
Patterned Paper
Here we go:
Stamp the tree images onto heavyweight white cardstock in waterproof ink.
While
they are drying, take a piece of plastic (I like to save the packaging
from stamp sets and paper packs). Smoosh your ink pad onto the plastic
and spritz with a small amount of water.
Now for the messy part--press
your stamped tree into the ink, picking up color, blotting off with a
paper towel, adding more color, until the whole image is covered. After
it dries, you can even go back to layer on more color.
Let the trees dry completely and color the trunks with a brown marker.
I
assembled my cards with some Autumn paper from my stash, letting the
trees be the focal point. No Fall paper? How about Spring paper? Or
even just wood grained paper?
Once you start ink smooshing, you won't stop! I'd love to see your creations. Tag me on Instagram @katedeignancards.
I’m also not a big fan of colouring…never thought to use ink smooshing for those images! Thanks for sharing. 😊
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you liked it! Check back on July 25th for another no-coloring card. I'll do anything not to color! :)
