Paper Pieced Cacti
Hi and welcome back to the Pawsome Stamps blog.
If you look back to my post on July 4th, you know that I'm not a huge fan of coloring. So I'm here today with another non-coloring coloring technique.
There are so many adorable stamp sets here at Pawsome Stamps that lend themselves to coloring. But if you are not a colorist, you have an alternative--paper piecing! All it requires is a bit of fussy cutting, if you are up for it!
Supplies:
Patterned paper of your choice (scraps from your stash work great, especially those with tiny patterns)
Copic Markers (for coloring the pots)
Black Ink
Here we go:
I stamped the plants that I wanted to paper
piece onto white cardstock AND the patterned paper. Color the pots
however you'd like. Trim the top part of the cactus from the patterned
paper, trimming close to the black inked line. I even tried stamping
on some thin glitter cardstock for a sparkly cactus! Assemble your
patterned paper cactus over the colored pot.
Now
onto the card base. I stamped the smaller cacti in black ink on a
white card base (the Misti helped with a straight line). The colorful
cactus is popped up for added dimension. Added a heat embossed
sentiment on black cardstock and these cards are done!
I hope my cards have inspired you to give paper-piecing a try. I'd love to see your paper-pieced creations! Tag me on Instagram @katedeignancards.
Kate, you make me want to paper piece!
