A dreaming bear

Hi guys, Julie here with you today and I am sharing a card with the Happy Camper stamp set. There was a new baby born in my family and I wanted to make a cute card for the occasion. This sleeping bear is the perfect image for this type of card. I was actually inspired to use purple and gold on my card. They are not usually colors that I tend to use, but I really love the end result.

I started with a panel of Arches watercolor paper and used a background stamp to emboss with a gold embossing powder. It's a subtle gold in the back, but it makes texture and I love it. Then, I used Mungyo watercolor and mixed a bunch of blue and purple colors. As I like to say, I build this with layers. I let it dry and then add more if I want to deepen the colors, of to make more texture. Don't be afraid to go back and add color.

After that, I stamped the images with Versafine onyx black ink so I could use my watercolors. I went with a light amount of color, I wanted the background to stand out. The moon and the clouds were painted with gold watercolors and a glittery pearl color. Since I wanted my bear to sleep on a "dreaming cloud" I used the bush and painted it with the same colors of the background but more watered down. I absolutely love how this cloud turned out.

I die cut a frame with satin gold cardstock to frame a little bit my images. I added white splatters with acrylic paint. I foam mounted the bear, the cloud, the moon and the sentiments strips. The sentiments are saying : an angel is born, enjoy those sweets moments. I think that it goes really well with the sleeping bear. Overall, I absolutely love this card. I went outside of my comfort zone with the colors and the design but it turned out beautiful.

I hope you liked my project today, thank you for stopping by and have an awesome day!
