Watermelon Sweet Treat
Hi there! Jean here with you today and I am so excited to share this card I created using the Extra Scoop set in the current release!
When I was planning this card, I was reminded of those old-fashioned watermelon popsicles that I used to get as a kid at our local country store. I really wanted to capture those memories – and the popsicles - on this card.
To get the full watermelon feel, I started with the background. I used a deckle edge stencil to mask off a rectangle and then ink-blended Distress Oxide inks to look like a slice of watermelon.
I stamped the sentiment from the Extra Scoop set in VersaMark and heat embossed it using white embossing powder. I then added in a few watermelon seeds - free hand - using a black glaze pen.
For the popsicles, I heat embossed them in white on watercolor cardstock and painted them using the same Distress Oxide ink colors I used for the background.
Once they were dry, I die cut the popsicles using the Extra Scoop die set and arranged them on my panel, popping one up with foam adhesive.
To balance the black of the watermelon seeds, I added a thin strip of black and white pattern paper from my stash along the bottom of my card front before adding my watermelon panel with more foam adhesive. I added some black and white twine to the top of the card for more balance and then a few gorgeous Georgia Peach sequins for a bit of sparkle.
I appreciate you stopping by the blog today and I hope you’ll check out the Shop for all of the latest goodies! For even more inspiration, visit us on Instagram: @pawsomestamps @jean.studiojd
