Let's Celebrate with the Good Luck Lanterns

Hey everyone, Britney here! I am so excited to be on the Pawsome Stamps blog today featuring The Good Luck Lanterns Stamp Set. I really love how this card turned out.

Because I was going to use my Karin markers, I prepped a piece of water color cardstock with an antistatic powder tool and stamped the large image from the set with Versafine ink. Then I coated the image with clear embossing powered. I like using embossing powered when I’m going to be doing “water coloring”.

I colored the image using two different Karin markers around the edges and used a damp paint brush to blend the colors together. I followed rainbow order and worked my way around the images using various markers I thought would look nice. I used my gold water colors to add some interest to the strings and some of the stripes. Then I colored the background using the black marker. I thought the black would make the images stand out nicely.

Once the background was completely dry, I used a rectangle die to cut the panel down to a little smaller than standard A2 size. I cut another layer of plain white cardstock using a rectangle die. The last panel was out of watercolor cardstock. I wanted it to match the black I used on the card, so I colored the edges using my black Karin marker. I needed a place to put the sentiment. I cut a piece of acetate to 4 ¼ by 6 and used my scoring tool to create a hinge. I prepped the surface with my antistatic powder tool and white heat embossed a sentiment from the set. I used redline tape to attach my acetate to the card base.

Stamping an image and sentiment on the inside finishes the card off nicely. It is easier to stamp an image and/or sentiment on the inside of the card before adhering the card panel to the base. The bulk of the foam tape can make it difficult to get a good impression using a Misti Stamping tool. I used a sentiment from the XL Birthday Greetings Stamp Set. I used a strong liquid adhesive to glue my panels to the card base. Sometimes I will put the card under something heavy to make sure everything lies flat.

I finished off my images using a white gel pen to add some accents. I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I enjoyed making it. Have a wonderful day and make sure to check out all the goodies in the Pawsome Stamps shop
