Glory to the Newborn King!

Hi there!
I can’t believe it’s already December and almost time for Christmas!  I thought I’d spend my time on the blog today sharing a card that celebrates the birth of Jesus.  I created this card using the new set, Newborn King, which is part of the new Holiday Release.

For this card, I started out by making the background.  I went a little non-traditional with the pinkish-coral gradient just to mix things up from the traditional holiday colors.  It looked sort of like a desert sunset or sunrise to me, which I thought worked just fine for this scene.  I used Distress Oxides in Scattered Straw, Worn Lipstick, and Festive Berries.

Once I was sure the Oxide ink was completely dry (you can test it by putting a bit of embossing powder on it and if it sticks, it’s still too wet), I heat embossed my manger scene, one element at a time, in black.  Be sure to use an anti-static powder before embossing to avoid as many stray black spots as possible.

Next, I cut the top panel to frame the scene, making sure I had room to add my sentiment on the bottom.  I heat embossed my sentiment in black, then heat embossed the Holy Star in gold, before adhering each of the panels using foam adhesive.

I adhered the entire panel to my card base.  In retrospect, I think it would be just as easy to ink blend the scene directly on the card base and maybe save a bit of cardstock, but I tend to play it a little cautious, so I made the entire card front as a separate piece.

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today!  I hope your holiday preparations are going well! Don’t forget to check out the Shop for all of the latest goodies, and, for even more inspiration, visit us on Instagram: @pawsomestamps  @jean.studiojd
