when all else fails, take a nap

For today's card, I used this super sweet stamp from the Ruff Life stamp set. Does the little doggy look sooo happy there in his stack of pillows? I envy him!

For my background, I used a stencil with some distress oxides: chipped sapphire, faded jeans and shaded lilac. I then splattered some pearlescent water and some white gouache to give it a bit more interest. 

As the background was quite busy, and I didn't want the stamp to get lost in it, I used an oval die from Waffle Flower and die cut that from vellum. This is a great tip if you have a busy background, as it allows you to still see the beautiful background while giving the main image the focus it deserves! 

For my images, I used my alcohol ink markers (ohuhu brush tip) and then added some highlights with a white gel pen. I went for blues and yellows, and that wasn't intentional but I guess that is what is in my mind these days... same as most of us. 

I then stamped the sentiment on white cardstock and fussy cut it. I decided to use two strips of double sided foam tape for it to ensure it stood up. I really like the results! 

For my base card, I cut some dark blue cardstock to an A2 size and I used fun foam and double sided tape to mount my front panel to it. It's all about dimension, isn't it?
